There are places that impress you and then there are places that linger in your heart long after you’ve left. Venice belongs to the latter. From the moment I stepped onto its narrow streets and watched the gondolas glide through emerald canals, it felt as though I had wandered into another century. Here, there are no rushing cars or crowded avenues, only the gentle sound of water, hidden passageways and beautiful facades reflected in the canals below.
I spent a whole day getting lost among quiet bridges, admiring the elegance of centuries-old palaces and discovering charming corners that seemed untouched by time. Every turn revealed something beautiful: a flower-filled balcony, a sunlit canal, a gondola drifting beneath an ancient bridge.
Venice is not simply a destination to visit, it is a city to experience slowly. A place where romance lives in the details and where every moment feels like a scene from a dream.

THE GONDOLA EXPERIENCE
No trip to Venice would feel complete without gliding through its canals aboard a gondola. While it may be one of the city’s most iconic experiences, I quickly discovered that it is far more magical in person than any photograph can capture.
As our gondola drifted through the narrow waterways, Venice revealed a different side of itself. Away from the busy squares and crowds, there were quiet canals lined with weathered palaces, hidden bridges and flower-filled balconies reflected in the water below. Time seemed to slow down as the gentle sound of the gondolier’s oar echoed through the narrow passages.
Passing beneath centuries-old bridges and watching the city unfold from the water offered a perspective I would have otherwise missed. Every turn revealed another beautiful corner, another elegant faรงade, another glimpse into the timeless charm that makes Venice so unique.
It was not simply a ride through the canals, it felt like stepping into a dream. For an hour, I was able to experience Venice at its most romantic, floating through a city that seems suspended between history and imagination.

THE BRIDGES OF VENICE
Venice is often associated with gondolas and grand canals, but some of my favorite moments were spent wandering across its countless bridges. Each one seemed to reveal a different side of the city, a hidden canal, a quiet courtyard, or a beautiful view framed by centuries-old buildings.
As I explored Venice, I found myself constantly stopping in the middle of bridges, simply admiring the scenery around me. The gentle movement of the water below, the colorful facades reflected on the canals and the soft sounds of everyday life created an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in the world.
One of the things I loved most was how every bridge felt like a gateway to another discovery. Turning a corner could lead to a peaceful canal lined with flower-filled balconies or a charming passageway untouched by the crowds. Even without a destination in mind, Venice invites you to keep walking and see where the next bridge will take you.

Standing above the water, watching gondolas glide beneath ancient stone arches, I felt as though time moved differently here. Venice encourages you to slow down, to notice the details and to appreciate the beauty hidden in everyday moments.
The bridges of Venice are more than just pathways connecting the city, they are some of its most beautiful viewpoints. From them, you can admire the romance, history and quiet charm that make Venice such a magical destination.
Sometimes, the best way to experience Venice is simply to pause on a bridge, look around and let the city tell its story.

IF IS ITALY, IS PIZZA
There are certain experiences that feel essential when visiting a destination and in Italy, enjoying a slice of pizza is one of them. While Venice is known for its elegant canals, historic architecture and romantic atmosphere, some of my favourite moments were surprisingly simple.
Late in the afternoon, away from the busy squares and crowded landmarks, I found a quiet corner beside a canal and sat down with a freshly baked pizza. The water gently reflected the surrounding buildings, gondolas drifted by in the distance and for a moment, the city felt completely still.
What I love most about Venice is that beauty can be found in the smallest moments. It isn’t always about famous sights or carefully planned itineraries. Sometimes it’s about sitting by the water, listening to the sounds of the city, and enjoying a delicious meal while watching everyday Venetian life unfold around you.

Italian pizza is wonderfully simple. Fresh ingredients, a perfectly crisp crust and flavours that speak for themselves. There is no need for anything complicated when the quality is already exceptional. Eating it beside one of Venice’s picturesque canals somehow made it taste even better.
Travel memories are often built from these quiet pauses rather than grand adventures. Long after I forget the exact route I walked or the names of every bridge I crossed, I know I will remember this peaceful moment, a slice of pizza, the gentle movement of the canal and the feeling of being completely present in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Because if it’s Italy, it’s pizza. And if it’s Venice, it’s best enjoyed by the water.

a farewell to Venice
Venice is more than its famous sights. It’s the sound of water gently lapping against ancient walls, the soft glow of lanterns reflected in the canals, the scent of fresh pizza drifting through narrow streets and the countless bridges leading to places unknown. What I will remember most is not a single monument or attraction, but the feeling this city gave me. A feeling of slowing down, of appreciating beauty in the smallest details and of embracing the romance of simply being present.
As the gondolas disappeared into the distance and the evening light settled over the canals, I quietly promised myself that one day I would return.
Until then, arrivederci, Venezia. You will always have a place in my heart!
