Mauritius is literally a paradise on Earth! Turquoise waters gently kissing the soft velvety sand, astonishing forests, amazing wildlife, beautiful temples and many tea fields. This is actually Mauritius, a country whose borders stretch beyond the frontiers of imagination.
I have so much to share about Mauritius but this blog post is dedicated to the amazing tea fields of Bois Cheri. Near the picturesque village of Chamarel is where you can find this stunning tea field. At first I thought it is gonna be a short visit, but the more we started to wander around the more we discovered and more we wanted to stay. We liked so much this place that we spend a whole day here, I also decided to write a whole blog post about it. Because trust me, the place is AMAZING!
When you’ll make your way to the field you’ll see right away that this is not just a tea field. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many animals live here. There are deers, pigs, some cute ducks and a shy goat, who’s not that shy if you have food. Also the nature is next level. All around is special, wonderful and unique, the trees, the lake, the palms, flowers and the tea itself. And the smell… fabulous!
the factory tea
Depending on the tea season, if there has been a good yield, you can see the tea making processes across the different types of machines. They demonstrate the process from raw leaves until the tea is sealed in boxes. It is worth knowing that at Bois Cheri they add flavors to the tea, the most popular one in Mauritius is probably the vanilla tea, but they also have exotic fruit flavours, cardamom, coconut and many others.
restaurants nearby
Actually we wanted to only have lunch here at Bois Cheri, but road to the restaurant was the nice welcome to an amazing day we were about to spend and to the fabulous things we were about to see. You’ll see right away that this is a very special place.
Because it was raining like crazy we had to stay inside the restaurant, but you can still enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and a wonderful view of the tea fields and the lake. There is a balcony where you can have lunch too. Which is actually a great place to eat because the deers and goats will not be shy to approach you and you can feed and pet them.

for those who love animals
If you want to be super close to the deers, this is a great place to make your dream come true. Here at Bois Cheri are living many of them, they are a little bit shy, but they will approach you, specially if you have food for them. We even spotted a few calves, super cute!
I wasn’t expecting to also see a mommy pig and her 5 adorable piglets. OMG! Imagine the happiness I felt, but it is normal to get this happy when you are an animal lover. We followed them in the little forest in front of the restaurant and that is how we met 3 adorable ducks, a little bit cocky I would say, but still insanely cute. And this is how we had the best time of or lives here at Bois Cheri.

magical forest
What surprised me the most, it was the many forests of Mauritius. I mean, I knew the island is super natural, with plenty of things to do and see, but I wasn’t expecting so many forests and species of trees. It’s amazing! Even if today the country is fighting to preserve whatever is left of its primitive nature, there is still so much left.
We found this place right when we were leaving Bois Cheri and we were mind blow. There is a vast array of native species, many of which are rare or endangered, which makes this forest even more special. But if you are thinking to have a nice picnic here, maybe you should bring a lo of repellent, because the mosquitoes are crazy.

Don’t be that tourist! The beauty of Mauritius is a fragile wilderness and if you leave dirt behind it will affect many species and the environment. Always be respectful of other forms of life and with people that will visit after you. Better humans, better world!
There is another blog on the way about the fabulous island of Mauritius with more places to see, but I hope that I helped you to plan your magical visit to Bois Cheri. If you already visited Mauritius I’d love to hear your experience it in the comments.
